Pepper’s Ghost Effect

This work uses a Victorian-era effect typically used in theatre, film and amusement park rides. This effect is achieved using an angled pane of glass to create the illusion of a ghost-like image within another scene. I have used this effect to merge coloured light and abstract forms to create moving images. Unlike the usual staging of the effect, the apparatus used to create the illusion is laid bare for the viewer to see.
